Autism Delaware’s 2017 Scholarship Applications Are Now Available!

See below for explanations of the 3 types of scholarships available, and links to the application for each.

Note: Immediate family members of current Autism Delaware staff and Board of Directors members are not eligible to apply.

The Autism Delaware Adults with Autism Scholarship

The Adults with Autism Scholarship was created to provide financial support for eligible adults with autism spectrum disorder (asd) who are pursuing post-secondary education. Applications are competitive and the number of scholarships available depends upon the amount of funding available and the assessment of the scholarship review committee. The amount of the Adult with Autism Scholarship is typically $1,000.

The Daniel and Lois Gray Memorial Scholarship

The Gray Memorial Scholarship was created to provide financial support for students enrolled or accepted for matriculation at the University of Delaware and who intend to work in Delaware. Applications are competitive and the number of scholarships available depends upon the amount of funding available and the assessment of the scholarship review committee. The amount of the Gray Memorial Scholarship is typically $1,000.

The Autism Teacher Certification Scholarship Opportunity

The Autism Teacher Certification Scholarship was created to provide financial support for teachers in Delaware’s public and charter schools who wish to pursue an autism certification. Applications are competitive and the number of scholarships available depends upon the amount of funding available and the assessment of the scholarship review committee. The amount of the Autism Teacher Certification Scholarship is typically $1,000.

Conference Stipends

Every year Autism Delaware provides funds to selected applicants to attend conferences, workshops or other events to increase their knowledge and skills related to autism spectrum disorders. Funds are awarded by the director on a first-come, first-served basis to those who successfully apply for the stipend. Applicants may apply for up to $250 per event which may be used for the following:

  • Conference registration
  • Transportation to and from the conference
  • Hotel or meals
  • Child care during the conference

Applicants must ask for a stipend in writing, which may be by e-mail or letter stating why they want to attend, what the stipend will pay for and that the conference is affordable for the recipient. The stipend recipient must provide proof of attendance, and Autism Delaware will reimburse the attendee following the conference. We also request that the member write an article for our newsletter, The Sun, so that information learned in the conference can be shared.
